Crouch has a very concise writing style, hard-boilded at times, that’s immediately evokes cinematic landscapes in your mind. As he is also a screenwriter i think it comes with the job. This novel is mixing up a police detective trope with a (charming) female prodigy trope that is misused by a sleazy tech-investor type. It works fine and the physics of all the time-travel stuff could be derived directly from Carlo Rovelli’s „The Order of Time“ which i read before this. I’d give it 5 stars but it’s a bit to polished for me, so let it be a 4.4 rating.
